Leadership Tip: Don't live or lead in isolation.
Here's the truth: Bad things happen when people isolate themselves.
Here's another truth: Most isolated people don't realize it or admit it.
I've seen it over and over again both from a personal and a leadership perspective.
So many leaders fall, and the root is isolation. Bad thoughts on repeat, pride, fear, unconfessed sin, and insecurity that are not worked out with others often lead to terrible decisions and behaviors.
On a personal level, many people are depressed because they are isolated. There's no help, no joy, no protection, and no purpose.
And whether you believe it or not, there's an unseen enemy doing everything they can to convince you to be isolated and to go it alone.
Why is the enemy trying to manipulate you into isolation?
Bad things happen when a person isolates themselves.
A Proverb in the Bible says, "A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; He rages against all wise judgment." Proverbs 18:1
Here are a few things to help you identify if you're isolated:
Feeling lonely
A slew of broken relationships
A season of bad decision-making
Often Suspicious and cynical of others
Not engaging in social activities
No one present in your time of need
You assuming the worst of people
If you're isolated, I pray that you will take one step. It's the step of being vulnerable with someone by telling them you're struggling with isolation.
We step out of isolation by stepping into authentic community.
If you want to lead and live better, don't allow yourself to be isolated.
If you're battling isolation and would like someone to pray for and encourage you, please shoot me an email.
